May you thank God for the reason to exist
May you have the urge to help and care, May you spread the joys without fanfare, May you have the intensity without any air, May you keep the offerings a low affair. As resolute and insistent and ever incessant, Deep waters have a flow calm and silent, Plain and slanted and at times crescent, Yet what a splendid wonder they present. As dark thick clouds never roar or rumble, Achieve lofty heights, to spill and stumble, Float for days sans grouse and grumble, In their mission to rain they not ever fumble. As the lush green trees are bold and blunt, The blazing Sun they continue to confront, Without any groan and without any grunt, To offer shade and shield is their only hunt. May you thank God, you have means to gift, And can comfort those, ‘living in the mist’, And breathing for others is your life’s gist, May you thank God for the reason to exist. Surinder Singh
