May you thank God for the reason to exist

May you have the urge to help and care, May you spread the joys without fanfare, May you have the intensity without any air, May you keep the offerings a low affair.   As resolute and insistent and ever incessant, Deep waters have a flow calm and silent, Plain and slanted and at times crescent, Yet what a splendid wonder they present.   As dark thick clouds never roar or rumble, Achieve lofty heights, to spill and stumble, Float for days sans grouse and grumble, In their mission to rain they not ever fumble.   As the lush green trees are bold and blunt, The blazing Sun they continue to confront, Without any groan and without any grunt, To offer shade and shield is their only hunt.   May you thank God, you have means to gift, And can comfort those, ‘living in the mist’, And breathing for others is your life’s gist, May you thank God for the reason to exist.   Surinder Singh

The Transition

Image
We fear it the most, yet enjoy the most, None wants to get stuck, and also drained. Transition is liberation that comes with cost, This antithesis of guarded and the chained.   Life and death are perpetual and incessant, These crop up to switch us into another role. Waning and waxing, consistent and persistent, Revamped as parts; we are not the whole.   The shining Sun and the magnificent Moon, Work in shifts; help us to revive and respite. Exhausted they fade, and to glory grow soon, In turn day and night, they inhibit and incite.   Surinder Singh

Dream and Dare......

Image
This year, they say, it will be a dismal spring, So, what! the musical chimes still shall ring. This year, they say, summer shall be awful, So, what! acts of nature are always lawful. This year they say, it shall not rain much, So, what! why to fret, why to grouch. This year, they say, it will be a savage fall, So, what! we will return home, old we all. This year, they say, it shall be severe icy, So, what! future has always been dicey. Dream and dare to emerge and thrive, Have urge and drive to surge and survive. Surinder Singh

I can't plead with you.........

Image
O time! why are you stuck and still, Let my hope breathe and thrive, Let the cradle swing, let me survive, I need the zeal; I wish the thrill.   O time! don’t be too slow, As from my goal I am so afar, Still have an eye on the North Star, Let me advance, let me grow.   O time! don’t be too fast, Let me shine to the fullest, Before I am laid to rest, And am buried in the past.   O time! you the real stream, I am a spurt, I am a wave, You the master, I only a slave, As you ordain, so I seem.   Surinder Singh

Surinder Singh बेतकल्लुफ़ - open, frank वाबसता - submissive, dependent दिल-आवेज़ - pleasing, captivating पसपा - fall back, retreat

LIFE IS ABOUT ASSUMING WITHOUT ASSUMPTIONS

Image
All actions of ours, which are a part of our active life, are based on certain assumptions and directed towards certain expectations. But life itself is espousing and embracing something worthwhile or say worthless, sans any speculations or guesswork and probabilities or prospects. It is a resonant and yet detached journey on virgin trails, taking us to our illusions, the biggest of which is our desire to seek immortality among the mortals. The path is slippery and dicey but we have to be resolute and steadfast despite falls and failures in sight all around. Every life shall have a different curve, if we ever attempt to draw a graph of life. Very few would look to have a smooth bend and that too from others perspective only, since what one experiences can neither be observed nor understood by others. Although every curve shall start and end at the same level, the vertical oscillations of a curve in relation to time, shall decide as to how quick and deep have been the dives and how sw...

THE PERPETUATION

Image
My wish and hope, which often move in collusion, Have taught me the lesson and led to the conclusion, That the pursuit is the real and the feat is an illusion.   The lesson has kept me moving and advancing, Hopping and springing, bouncing and dancing, Boosting and improving, enriching and enhancing.   Just kindle and mingle, just behold and hold, Just involve and evolve, just reveal and unfold, Compose and disclose the stories hitherto untold.   Acquire and accrue but to slash and to share, With the meagre and the scanty with love and care, And surely you will secure a place in their prayer.                                 Surinder Singh

The Abyss

Image
This post is a recollection of one of the training sessions, I was taking on ‘Balance Sheet Contents and Analysis’ during my posting as faculty in the Bank. While even today, I have below average interest in the material things and the study about commercial subjects, it was the obligation of my job, which I opted solely to earn, to learn and impart training to my banker colleagues handling the credit portfolio. During the session, I was differentiating between the tangible and the intangible assets appearing in the balance sheet. As per the going concern and the gone concern concepts of any business entity, the intangible assets have monetary value only till the entity is a going concern i.e., successfully operating. Once the concern is in losses and stops its operations, it becomes a gone concern, and its intangible assets cease to have any monetary value. So broadly speaking, in the corporate world, the intangible assets lose their worth, once the tangible is diminished or g...

Maintain Margin and Create Happiness – Give 115% and Expect 85%

Image
In this piece, I mean by ‘margin’ not the boundary or brim. Instead, here the word is used for surplus, spare or standby to provide contentment to self and relief to others. The cheerfulness and the sprightliness, which are its most basic characteristic, require some space, some pause and some tolerance in every facet of our life. After all we are not destined to be robotic. We have to have the essential emotions in order to satiate our craving for recognition, adoration and exhilaration, which are nothing but reflections of our daily provisions. Perfection is the stage, which is the least planned for the human, since precision is nothing but rigidity and the rigidity is an antithesis of clemency, the quality that makes the human, ‘humane’. Now how to apply this margin. To remain blissful and let others also be gleeful, we need to adopt two approaches; two sets of standards, one for ourselves and the other for our counterparts. This propriety can be explained in a few and v...
