Character Vs Personality
Character may impede the
development of our personality and hence the success of our worldly pursuits.
Perhaps this is the notion that prevents these days, the people from focussing
on character and makes them concentrate more on their personality. We find here
and there, in fact everywhere, personality development institutes running
parallel personality development programmes, but nowhere we come across any
institute conducting even a single programme, which may be termed as character
centric.
Character is the
reflection of our conscience while the personality is merely an organized frame
of our senses. Personality is like a utensil and even if
it is made of gold, it will still stink if the stuff it carries is degraded.
And on the other hand, even if it is made of clay, but is filled with something
pure and precious, it shall always be proud of its worthy possession. Personality
may equip us with the power to distinguish between the right and the wrong, but
it is the character that gives us the strength to stand by the righteousness.
The world of the day has developed
all types of artificiality. In its chase for simulating, it has travelled miles
and miles so as to create even the artificial intelligence. No doubt the affectation
may deliver all the material pleasures but it is taking us away from the truth
called the fulfilment and the satisfaction that keeps our soul radiant enabling
it to merge with the One, who created it. God wants us to be rich in affection,
which only a pure soul is capable of harvesting. The personality at the most may
help us reap a good harvest of affectation, but the pretentiousness, as we all
know, has no intrinsic value and hence unsustainable.
In the end I would again
implore that for building a healthy society, we have to strengthen our
character, since the personality despite being proficient in creating numerous
artifices, can never attain the enthusiasm of character that is sure to realize
the brightness even on a hazy day.

Very thoughtful sir. Great piece of writing ✍️👏👏
ReplyDeleteOnly a person with strong character could reflect so deeply on this differentiation... Actually character building needs to be the pivot of our education and everything other accomplishment is peripheral to it....
